ESTEST Initializing eXist Database

This page is DEPRECATED just use the installer!

This document is intended to help administrators setup the eXist database for the first time

Start the eXist Admin Client client.sh and login as admin. It is recommended to create a new group in order to share the estest database resources; therefore, edit users by clicking "Tools->Edit Users" and click on the button to create a new group named users.

Next add users to the assigned groups of admin and click "Modify User"

Close the "Edit Users" window and in the root path of the database exist:/db create a new collection named estest by typing "mkcol estest" in the command line box

Edit the owners/permissions for the estest resource to that show below

Repeat these actions for a new sub-collection under estest named db. The expected result is show below

Enable lucene based search for ESTEST by following the instructions in configuring lucene search

Now you may populate the database with batch and user entries using the collection "exist:/db/estest/db" which has been initialized.
